Nobody said that parenting is a walk in the park. Kids might be small, but they can be a handful. It is important to note that there is no single trick to make parenting easier. The thing is, raising children is a full-time job. But, even if parenting is a tough job, we’ve got you covered with these helpful DIY tips that can improve your life and make parenting less stressful for both you and your children.
Hand Washing Hack
Hand washing is a very important activity that your kids should learn and practice by heart. Most parents find it difficult to teach hand washing to children. While some parents tend to use wet wipes or towels, it does not really remove the food that got stuck in your children’s hands. A good hack to washing children’s hands before or after meals is to bring a bowl of water and submerge their hands until clean. Have a towel ready to wipe their hands dry and clean. Continue doing this until your child gets used to washing his or her hands in the bowl. Eventually, you can teach your child to wash his or her hand under the tap once they are ready.
Use Placemats During Eating Time
Feeding time can be a messy affair for many children. It is natural for kids to play with their food, but you can make feeding time mess-free, if possible, by using a placemat. You can use an ordinary placemat or a stick-on placemat so that kids cannot easily pull off the placemat while eating. To keep them entertained while waiting for their food, choosing placemats with familiar characters can keep them preoccupied. The best thing about placemats is that you can bring them wherever you go, like the restaurant. Once you are done, you can roll it up, place it in a plastic bag, and you are good to go.
Keep Them Busy During Shopping Time
Most parents think that shopping time can be very challenging with young children in tow. The thing is, children like pointing to their mommies and daddies the things they want for themselves–and they basically want to buy everything that they lay their eyes on. To make shopping easier for kids, make sure that you keep them busy. There are many ways to keep young children busy. You can make a necklace out of cheerio that they can wear and probably munch on while you are shopping. If they are already big and can walk, you can give them their own basket and tell them to put in things they want. But when it’s time to check out, let them choose an item in the basket that they really like and leave the rest behind.
Use the Right Product to Make Bath Time Fun
Many children hate bath time especially if it is time to rinse off the shampoo as the bubbles tend to end up in their eyes causing a burning sensation. Aside from a rubber ducky, there are many things that you can use to make bath time more fun and less stressful for your tots. A good tool to use for for tear-free rinses and make bath time more fun is a water scoop. It funnels the water away from your tot’s face and a rubber lip that fits against the forehead to prevent water from dripping in front of their head.
Place All Toys Inside an Inflatable Pool
There is nothing more annoying and painful than to step on a piece of Lego block in the middle of the night. Children love to play with their toys and no matter how hard you ask them to keep their toys in their proper places, they are not going to do it anyway. To solve this problem, get an inflatable pool and place all of their toys inside the inflatable balloon. Have them play inside the pool (as there is plenty of space inside). If there are some toys that have “gotten out” from the pool, you can easily sweep it back in place. Clean up is a breeze with this technique plus you can push the inflatable pool on one side of the room when not in use.
